Bahama Village
If Fort Zachary Taylor was not a state park, it would belong to Bahama Village. The south and southwest portion of Key West
Old Town North & South
The history and energy in Old Town is rich and exciting. Each night there is something happening. From the Historic Waterfront, to Duval, to the small side-streets filled with orchids & palm trees, this area is highly desirable and just a quick bike or scooter ride to your favorite cafe. When strolling down the many city streets of Old Town, it is easy to picture a thriving city with salty roots from Spain to Cuba & the Everglades. Here, Key West feels like a metropolis on “island time”. Much of the history of Key West is preserved in the historical inns, pubs, restaurants and art galleries.
Midtown
A little further away from the busy downtown streets is Midtown. Here the streets are less crowded and homes are 60s style with the exception of renovations. Families walk & ride bikes to school in the mornings and there are plenty of friends nearby at the community gardens & Key West farmers market each week. Midtown is perfect for families & those wanting to be a little further away from Duval Street.
New Town
On the opposite side of Old Town is New Town. Boasting the well-known Riviera Canal, multiple hotels along the water, and several condominiums, there is an air of suburbia. New Town is for those who still want to live on Key West but do not want to be near the action on Duval Street. Neighbors are friendly and relaxed and tourists are scant.
Stock Island
More affordable and closer to the local fisherman, Stock Island is just outside of Key West and has room to space. Small canal homes allow for quick access to the ocean and there are several choices for marinas in the area, making getting on the water affordable and easy. Stock Island has long had a bad reputation but young locals and families are transforming the area as new construction in Key West is limited. Home to Safe Harbour, Hurricane Hole, and Key West Harbour, a new luxury hotel, it’s safe to say that Stock Island has always been a diamond in the rough but now, is well polished.
